the bbk is made for torque on mild cars not wild cars..
the fuel lines come in on the back of the motor not the front . so the preassure regulater has to be changed. i hate holley it is s..t carter rules

Do these manifolds have vacume for the air conditioning to connect too?
Ive been told the reason why my air conditioning is not working is becuz my trickflow manifold is not connected to the vacume air conditioning system and it only stays on windscreen setting and it will not change to feet and so on. Is this correct?

Seeing as though this is an epic thread mine , I will try and get some info out of it.
Whats the best torque producing manifold? Im currently running the RPMII on the Maverick but have an explorer sitting here as well. I want the thing to have as much torque as possible with the GT40P's because Im not massively happy with it at the moment. If the BBK is better torque wise Im happy to get one of them down the track. So what is the better torque producing manifold?

I will have to keep you posted as i have not got it dialed.in yet , like i said im using the afr 185 heads and they spec the 351 Windsor manafold gaskets and the bbk ports are matched to those gaskets so going by those rough figures and the rocker changes im suspecting the bbk will really shine after all its still a 3.00 stroke but with sportsman dome pistons and ibeam rods with a girdle kit should be getting 10.75 comp on 95 pump gas min the cam power band is 2400-6400 rpm

Up to 5000 rpm the Explorer will match or beat any manifold you can get, its been proven time after time. Its only after this that the aftermarket manifolds get an advantage. And ported they can usually produce a higher average power and torque number across the whole rev range to 5500 rpm, even though the aftermarket ones will start to make more power around those levels.

Hey evl your rpm11 should be fine maybe you could try a diff cam to suit the rev range and rocker also

I agree with this and it's important to talk about the rev range and off-idle torque. |

Good info!
It looks like I shall be giving the explorer a run. Will look a bot more legal under the bonnet anyway. Anyone got any recommendations for someone to port it or info on what to do? I have a compressor and am happy to buy a die grinder. What could possibly go wrong.........................

here is a thought why dont u buy a new coyote crate motor for the silly exchange rates at the moment and the ecu kit for 1500,you know where to get the bigger problems sorted like the bellhousing adapter from the first engine swap, hmmm got the cogs turning yet?,thats what i would call prgress.

Are your 40p's ported EVL? If not don't touch the intake, just bolt it on.

Nah Pete the 40P's are just standard.
The RPMII on them at the moment is most likely too frigging big by the sounds of it.

Even with the exchange rate, its still a bloody expensive motor option right now.

For such a heavy truck (I'm guessing around 2200kg) and the high inertia due to the wight of the muddies (mine weigh in at around 46kg each wheel and tyre) your engine is making plenty of torque for how well it goes. I don't think a manifold change will result in a noticeable seat of the pants feel. Just turbo yours and be done with it, or are you waiting for mine to be done to see what you can expect. |
