I'm after a serpentine belt tensioner for an E-series V8. Can those who have replaced theirs please comment on sourcing, prices, and part numbers if possible? I'm happy to bring an aftermarket unit in from USA if someone knows the cross-over vehicle they were sourced from in America.

Thanks. I'm trying to avoid Ford as their prices are silly, but it's the back-stop. An equivalent tensioner out of USA should be around US$35-US$70, it's just finding the correct equivalent is difficult.

Correct, but you need a tensioner to repair. The young chap I'm helping doesn't have a tensioner at all. Getting him to hand over NZ$200+ for a new unit just before Christmas is the last resort, especially since he's not in a rush (it's not in his daily driver).

Thanks for that, do you still have the invoice with the Repco part number on it?

Thanks for that. I was speaking with Dayco Australia a couple of days ago and they never said Repco were one of their agents. They gave me Bursons and Wesfil. But they did list that same p/n for the EB V8. Much cheaper than Fraud, so thanks once again for your help.

How did you go with finding the tensioner Tristram? I'm currently replacing all the pulleys and the tensioner, but I'm trying to find which ones from the Mustangs interchange as I would quite like some billet idlers etc, but would settle for the steel type, seeing as anything like these parts are crazy $$ in NZ.

Well just thought I would add this info for anyone looking the the tensioner.
It's an order in only part, in other words Summit Racing or places like that don't stock them, instead order them in for you (obviously demand isn't high). Price is $us76.95 and is a Dayco 89294. According to Summit, no other manufacturer makes this style of tensioner. |

DAYCO 89294 is the part number.
1992 Ford Thunderbird 1993 Mercury Cougar Also I got mine delivered from Western Filters in Blacktown NSW for $100 all up including delivery(top blokes, good prompt service) I think buying from the states will only be cheaper when you buy multiples.
