I want to rebuild my engine as I have blow bye and the car is using too much oil so (a) new rings(b)forged pistons(c)hone the block(d)gt40 headers(e)may be a fuel chip aswell? do these options sound good and how much will I be up for this $$wise?

Hmm what model is your E series V8, early ones already have forged pistons and maybe still ok. If you are doing that, change the cam (that nearly needs a thread on its own ), fit GT40 heads or better, better headers, explorer or better intake, bigger throttle body, bigger MAF for a start, as most of us don't know what you have already done or how far you want to go, it is a bit hard to know what you need. You could just rebuild and supercharge/turbo it, and then see how far you will go, should be better performance than, cam, head, intake etc using stock engine configuration fitted with a turbo or supercharger, nothing is cheap but. Also if you don't already have forged pistons, why do you want them, generally they are not required for most applications, hypereutectic pistons would be better all round pistons, forged pistons often have piston slap when cold as they expand more than cast alloy so higher cold clearances are required, making the piston less than ideal for normal day to day driving.

It mabe just a matter of hone rings and bearings...After mic-ing everything for clearances....Paying particular attention to cylinder out of round and tapper in bore...They don't generally wear that much...

Yeah - sorry mate. It is a really open question with a difficult answer. It could cost as little as $600 - or go to $2000 depending on what you find when you open her up. And those prices don't include labour.
