Hi guys,

Just want to know how to install a bosch 044 fuel pump in my bf xr8. I'm supercharging her and in doing so, I need to upgrade the pump. I as I understand the existing pump is in the fuel tank do I just remove old and replace with new?

Anyone have any ideas and do I need to drop the tank.

Cheers
Dan

You can also install a walbro 255, much smaller and would be a easier fit.

To fit a 044 youll probably have to modify the fuel cradle .

Aiming for 300 rwkw

That one looks good , I'd say it's 500 at the engine . But that would support 400rwkw easy . According to it.

Off subject a bit but talking to my mate today, he tells me mate your a di$#head. Ok then lol. Why? he seems to think I need a surge tank and I would be stupid if I didn't put one a blown xr8. Ok im going a bit of track work at powercruise do I really need one. Can I just put a fuel pump off the side of the surge tank as well as leave the standard one in the tank. If I go around a sweeping corner it will suck air into the line and damage the engine true/false?

Thanks,
Dan

I don't think you'd need a surge tank . Plenty off cars with 300rwkw + without one .

I guess I can always add one later if a problem arises. I just hate the idea of staving the engine of fuel if im taking a corner. hmmm.

just keep the tank above 1/4 anything lower and you'll starve it on a hard launch

I have just recently fitted a Bosch 044 inside my tank, had to modify the cradle to fit it... It seemed It was going fine, till I started to starve of fuel going up the highway.. Pull over and it sounds like the pump was sucking air... The tank is full. I had an epiphany yesterday and realised its the return fuel gushing into the tank that's causing the air to be pumped... So I'm about to try get some sort of hose arrangement on the return to return to fuel under the level of the fuel in the tank if that
Makes any sense to anyone

I can upload photos of what I've done/about to do if anyone is interested..
