i got a set of bosch blues and want to fit them to my eb 5 litre, i know they wont do anything unless i increase my fuel pressure, ive been told by a really switched on mechanic that im able to squash my reg in a vice to increase the fuel pressure. Has anyone done this before>?

He certainly sounds really switched on. So what did he say was the ratio of squish to psi increase?

Jeezzz, dont squish your reg!!
Buy an adjustable reg and/or an aftermarket ECU.

Definitely use vice grips to clamp it down, so that the hose may split...
Then sue the switched on mechanic once it goes up in flames

BPT Motorsport and probably plenty of others stock a direct bolt on replacement regulator thats full adjustable (no mods req) so why on earth would you put it in a vice and how many turns on the vice per pound of pressure increase. think about it. bet he's an old mechanic. He needs to come forward into the new millenium.

a set of "Bosch Blues" is completely meaningless. What is the part number?
And if you have to increase your fuel pressure for them to "do anything" it means they are smaller than what you have now....of course that assumes that "doing anything" means you need more fuel? What have you done to the engine to warrant needing bigger injectors? |

he's probably talking about the 24lb blue ones from the six that they used in the T3 engines and cranked the fuel pressure from 2.8 bar (std) to 4.3bar.

Maybe Paul, but until we know the part number it's an unknown. He could have Smegma injectors which are smaller than 19lb and therefore need increased fuel pressure. |

cmon, everyone who knows injectors knows bosch blues, they are from 4cyl late model magna but more commonly found in holden stroker engine, should also know that stock injectors put out as much as they flow, which is what the reg is set to and putting higher flow injectors requires more pressure from pump by not changing the pump but the reg. And no he's not an old school mechanic he recently was a mechanical engineer at ford and holden, and for me to say anyone is switched on is very rare.
For all you who dont know bosch blues, last digits of p/n are 774

For all you who dont know bosch blues, last digits of p/n are 774 Everybody who knows injectors knows that there are many blue coloured injectors and therefore the colour is meaningless! A 774 is 18.9lb/hr(less than stock Ford ones) at a whopping 47.9 psi! Therefore they are a lousy 17lb/hr at stock fuel pressure so the question is why use them? |

Listemn mate you obviously dont know the ones im talkin bout, i flowed them under 400kpa and they flowed over 300cc per minute, stock injectors flow approx 220-25- cc per minute.
