G'day everyone!
I've got a stock 290 and I would like to get the most kw's out of it as possible without changing cams, chips etc (trying to avoid losing my warranty). I was thinking of installing a SS Induction and a new exhaust, does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?? |

Get the bluepower intake, cheaper and much better.
You can do the exhaust, and headers, also helix spacer is meant to help (just makes it sound supercharged if you ask me). Yeah, also get the flash tuner. |

I was just told by the dude at Darwin hidden valley ford that it would void it if i made that mod. It really dose sux for the xr8's, the power gain is 15-20kws not as good as the xr6t's 40+ for flashing give or take. But better to be flashed then not to, im getting livewire form capa prob all the same as flash tuner.

livewire is a newer version on the flash box tool. Same tuning software behind it, just allows the user some flexibility (the flash box offers none).
But mods will void the warranty, no safe bets on that. Local dealers here used to do the Herrod stuff, but have stopped as Ford started knocking back warrantys.

I had a feeling about that, its really do or don't for power when it comes to warranty. Driving a total stocker you know for sure you always have warranty change something....50/50 things change. I don't care much for warranty be different power up. Some would disagree.

Hey thanks for the input fellas, there is a lot of stuff on the market and too many brands to choose from!! I got confirmation from the horses mouth regarding the warranty issue. FPV say that you can install any aftermarket product and it will not void the new car warranty, however if you have any problems which may have been caused by the aftermarket product they will not cover you which all sounds fair enough. So there is still hope!

I know nothing about the B-series ECU's and am curious whether or not you can just remove the factory fitted ECU and replace it with another ECU and just mod that one - so that if you need to take it back to Ford, you can just reinsert the original factory ECU.
Or are they uniquely ID'ed in some way?

Or are they uniquely ID'ed in some way? Not really because smartshield needs to match between PCM and BEM and the code is unique to every vehicle. This can only be done at a Ford dealer currently....although I may have ways and means |

They are encoded with the VIN. Plus they are riveted to the body in the engine bay.
