Yes, I'm using them and they make a very noticeable difference.
The cheapest performance improvement across the whole rev range you can get. Easy to fit too. Pete. |

Pete, how do you find the charging situation at idle with accessories on? Does it still charge okay or do you need to have the RPM up to get the charging going properly?

Yep, I'm running the same setup on my Fairmont. Noticeable throttle response and revs a bit quicker through the gears if you have a manual. I dont have an issue with the alternator either, charges fine and the only time I couldn't start the car was because we had a snow storm here in Orange a few years back.

I'm using one too, I'm happy with it, although some people with 1/2 stuffd alternators have had charging problems, I get 13v at idle with the highbeams, heater and stereo on.

The only time my voltage drops below 13 is at night at idle with high beam and driving lights and thermofans on. But I still haven't fitted the alternator pulley which, being slightly smaller, speeds the alternator back up again and would eliminate this problem. Of course it's not really a problem because who sits around at idle with high beam and driving lights on for any period?...not me which is why I haven't switched alt pulleys yet. Pete. |

Pete. the alternator pulley is bigger, same as the water pump pulley is bigger, it's the main pulley that is reduced in diameter, well at least that's how my ford pulleys are configured, make sense to...

Actually No, the alternator pulley is slightly smaller to speed it back up again due to the much smaller crank pulley. So in fact the alternator pulley is an Overdrive pulley to compensate for the small crank pulley. This is why this is a good underdrive set...it doesn't underdrive so much that the battery won't stay charged. Pete. |

I think znipa-x is using the FRPP, same as mine. I have had a custom 60mm alt pulley machined up, and that solved my problems with the FRPP set

So the BPT underdrive pulley kit is different to the FRPP kit?
