Hi guys,
I have been looking at the Aeromotive and the TFS (made by Aeromotive) fuel rail kits from Summit, they come with billet fuel rails, AN fittings, regulator and some braided line. I was originally just going to buy the kit so it was plug and play, but the mustang engine bay fuel lines are different to our Falcon's aren't they? I'm meaning the fuel lines in the engine bay that meet the rubber hoses before heading to the rails. But I'm sure I can compose a similar kit for around the same price to suit the Falcon fuel lines. So what I wanted to know was: Just say I've got the fuel rails, now what AN fittings to I need to connect them like the factory system? And also, is it possible to run braided hose straight to the fuel tank rather than just hooking them up to the factory fuel lines? |

Short answer, It will depend on the billet rails.
Long answer, my rail kit was the mallory kit from summit, it required a -8 feed, and a -6 return. it came with a reg for both of these fittings. I also brought an aeromotive fitting for the fuel lines to -6, but cant remember the part no. As for running braided to the tank, it is possible, but illeagal here in NSW, as the line between the tank and bay must be solid, hard line and not flexible, which seems ridiculas considering you can have flexible for an LPG system. I couldn't find the part numbers in your thread you mentioned.
I was looking at buying the TFS fuel rail kit which comes with everything, but I'm not sure if it will plumb into the factory lines, or if it just connects up near the top of the engine like the current fuel rails do.... if that makes sense. |

Well I have ordered the TFS fuel rail kit, it comes with fittings designed to hook up to the factory mustang lines. However I've decided to just run full braided hose from tank to engine bay.
Can someone please correct me If wrong, but I'm looking at 20ft of -06an hose for the return, and 20ft of -08an supply. What fittings will I need to hook the hose up to the factory fuel tank/pump hanger pipes? |

Yeah I think they deliberately set it up to eliminate the factory hard lines because they are quite small in the scheme of things.

Hence my reason for wanting to run braided straight to the fuel tank.
But I'm having trouble finding fittings that will connect the braided hose directly to the pickup tubes on the fuel tank. I've got the engine bay-back sorted, but I just need to know how to connect to the factory fuel tank. |

Side question: Would the stock fuel rails be OK for use with the Walbro 255lph and 24lb injectors? I blew my savings on a Crane ignition and some other bits and pieces today so have to save up for the fuel rail kit. So I'm thinking instead of just buying an Aeromotive regulator and putting that on the factory rails instead. Would I notice any benefit of having the big billet fuel rails over stock ones with my set up?

Yep easily. Did you buy the 255 pump just because it was easy or are you actually going to need that much fuel with your intended mods?
Btw it's not the stock rails themselves that are the restriction it's the piddly fittings on the end of them. If you cut those off and weld on some AN fittings you can easily accomodate 500hp..Done this on a few engines. |

I bought the 255 pump with the intention of going stroker down the line, and was told that due to return style fuel system it wouldn't matter as it just goes back to the tank anyway.
Will the factory hard lines and factory fuel rails handle the 255lph pump? (without the AN chop up like you suggested) If not, I'll just get the Trick Flow kit after all. |

Well it does and it doesn't matter. It's true the fuel goes back to the tank but it picks up heat on the way through. So you get a vapour build-up in the tank which means you can saturate your charcoal canister and start breathing the vapours. It also has an effect on pump durability with the excess heat. If you don't care about that then ok.
The factory lines will still work with the 255...you won't see problems unless you're moving past about the 450hp mark depending on how you're making that kind of power of course. |

Looks I may have to make up a new system as my factory fuel rails won't work with the TFS lower. The front hose and rail won't fit!

I made the std rail fit my TFS manifold. It was VERY tight..
You can cut away the std crossover hose and add a longer one with crimps or clamps to hold hose on.. I made 280 rwkw with std rail and lines with Walbro 255 and in line Bosch pump.. With turbo engine, stock block.. You will find it easier to use larger [stainless] steel pipe in original brackets.. As braided is too large, needs another method of attachment.. Plus it can be easily damaged.. But braided can be used from firewall to engine...
