1.7 ratio roller rockers will be OK without installing another cam. Check the pushrod length though.
I reckon they'll hit the top of the standard rocker cover if it's got baffles. You can either replace them with taller covers, or put a spacer under each factory cover.

I've got that exact set in my car but in a 1.72 ratio. Best off to get the matching valve springs, especially if you have GT40P heads (the factory GT40P springs are too week for a stock cam with 1.7 or larger rockers). As for the increaed height I went for a set of tall rocker covers and lifted my intake 3/8" with a phenolic spacer.

The car in question is an AU, so dose that mean it already has GT40 or GT40P heads from factory? They dont look alloy, but from what ive read they were all GT40 by this stage? COrrect?
The site info says about the higher covers being needed, so ill look for a set of those, and thanks for the tip on the valve springs too. Main thing was that it mentioned it was for Roller cams only, and i wasnt sure if that meant a cam upgrade was required, but thats seems sweet. Looks like a pretty worthwhile bolt on for $300..

+1 for getting better valve springs.
If you're referring to the cast iron GT-40P heads for the AU V8s, that's correct. Crane make the 44308-1 beehive spring kit, which has a single spring for each valve. If you're planning high revs, or installing a high lift cam, you'll need double valve springs.

Cool, that clears that up, although ill find out once i get the covers off anyways because they have GT40 stamped/moulded into them somwhere i read..
Not really going for high revs or extreme cam, mybe a mild/mid range one later on. Its more for the extra power you get from the freed up drivetrain. Ill look at that spring kit. THanks for the tip..

for rockers to fit the gt40p heads directly you need to look for shaft mount rockers or if you can find a set of yella terra 1.7 roller rockers from a 220kw engine they will bolt on with std rocker covers and std pushrods.. to fit stud mount rockers im pretty sure there is some machining of the head required..

I have read a little about this, these aer called pedestal mount rockers and they say that there is no machining required unlike the other style that needs a flat surface to bolt to.
Ill have a look around though there may be somthing at a wreckers.

They are a straight bolt in replacement.
Shaft mount rockers are for Biiiiig $$$$$ valve trains, nothing that most of us guys on here will be running. The above crane set are a direct bolt in pedestal mount set. You can see how they fit in the above pic. The channel goes down first, then a shim (or 2) then the pedestal then the rocker and finally the bolt through the top to lock it all down. The rockers are bolted down to each chanel in pairs to stop any twisting. As for the valve covers, you can get away with triming the baffle inside the drivers side rocker cover or you can use 2 gaskets double stacked. I went for a tall set as I had completely bastardised things by then and to go back to stock valve covers would have been a waste of cash. |

I have the proform Ford Racing slant edge covers (they are a pretty tall set) and the vacuum fittings under the plenum side of the intake foul on the rocker covers with a 3/8" spacer. There are 2 options, use a 1" spacer or remove the offending fittings and blank them off then use T pieces off the other fittings. |
