Hey guys,
Looking at two utes here locally, just can't decide. I know which one really I should go for but there is the temptation of a manual V8 Okay, so, Car 1 is a 2003 BA XR8 ute, 5 speed manual, 95,000ks. Mercury Silver no hard cover. $21,000 AFTER trade in of my EF for $2,900. Which is incredible really, as I wouldn't get a grand for it anywhere else. Seems to be standard, except for a different steering wheel (fat one) and cat back exhaust. Maybe 6 stacker cd? Dunno. Car 2 is a 2004 BA XR8 ute, 4 speed slusher, 77,000ks. Winter White w/ hard cover. Interior is completely standard, no options. $21,000 and I keep my current car. I know these prices are quite high compared to other places. Rather buy locally than go to the city though. I know really that I should go for the private one as it seems to be a better car. But I wanted a manual hehe. Is it worth it? |

car 1.
My reasons: 1) Cant beat a manual V8 2) They take a car off your hands that would only be costing you money to hang on to 3) 95,000kms means more time on the road for things to go wrong and have repaired before being owned by you. (A bit of a long winded reason but still...) 4) Cool Colour 5) who cares about hardtop? it's just extra weight on the back and would probably get in the way if you ever wanted to shift anything huge. 6) cat back exhaust would probably sound nicer than the stocker. Stocker B series XR8s are too ninja for my liking. |

I'm biased towards manuals so I'd say go number 1, providing its as neat and tidy as the other one and drives just as well (ignoring the different boxes)
Silver > white too. I'd offer 18k, tell them to ring you when they're ready to make a sale. Me and my mate did that when he was buying his BA through the local Ford car yard, they wanted 14k originally, knocked down to 13. He offered 10k, salesman replied not a chance, so he gave him his mobile number, and lo and behold half an hour later the salesman rang up and offered the car up for $10,500. Sold! |

Thanks guys
1. I did want a hard cover to lock the tools and stuff under. 2. Mercury silver is the grey they came out with. You know, the same colour as every second falcon I'll know more tomorrow, so I'll have another look at both of them and then decide. And then start a build thread |
