Well, the Sprint sprung a water leak on the way to work...kept topping her up and managed to there and back home ok.
Its a continuous drip from the top rear LHS of the engine, about 2L/10min. Stuck the digital camera in and grabbed a couple of shots...plenty hot in there. It looks like its coming out of the gasket but that volume leak would surely have it down a cylinder. Runs smoothe. Could it be tracking there from beneath the air intake? Not sure whats there to leak. Any ideas fellas?

heater tap, welsh plugs or maybe thermostat housing where it bolts to the head could also be the by pass hose

Looks like a head gasket from those pics because I can't see anything tracking from the intake side, but it could be the intake gasket or even the EGR coolant hose/barb or the heater tap/hoses. Get in there while it's running.
You have the original GT40 heads I see. |

Its impossible to see the back of the motor or get a camera in there even when its cool.. Looks like I will have to remove the intake to get a better view Yep, has the GT 40s..how do you tell? The vertical bars? Looking for some alloy heads to reduce the weight and improve the handling but not sure what to buy. Its a good time to buy with the high ausie dollar. thanks guys G

I wouldn't pull anything apart until you've actually found where the leak comes from. You might do better with a mirror on stick from above?
Yep three bars = GT40. Some AFR 165's would be the shot. |

im tipping it will be the EGR water hose that goes to the inlet manifold.
happened to my old 5ltr. if you lay on the engine carefully you can see back there easy enough. |

Big tick jaysway. Yep tiny split in the EGR hose. Bugger to get to so took the whole top off and replaced all the hoses. Actually by passed the EGR entirely.

Just remember it's an EGR coolant hose so if you take them off without actually blocking the exhaust flow from the heads you actually increase the temp at the t-body.

You got me there...I'm quite ignorant when it comes to the EGR theory and function so excuse me. At the TB, the egr plate is in the recirculated water line from the rear of the passenger side head to the water pipe along the drivers side head. How does the TB get hotter if the water lines are disconnected? And as far as the blocking exhaust flow, totally lost ...but thanks I will have to do some research on this. cheers mate
