will it shift into the next gear after the engine dies? and when you say it dies, do you meen you have to restart it?
have you tried resetting the computer?
any mods AT ALL to the car?

Sounds like your injectors are using more fuel than they are getting..... or the exhaust system has hit its limit.

Meaning : Either Feul Pump, Regulator, or Filter... OR....
The Cats.

Been using E10 or any other crap fuel? - id try the fuel filter

these motors are electronically limited to 5200 rpm i believe.
so you are hitting your rev limit but the gears arent changing.. mm sounds like somthins not interacting with the box and computer properly

Is this only at WOT or even at part throttle??

Does it do it every time or only some of the time?

Will it change earlier if you force the change in triptronic??

Are all your wheels and tyres of the same rolling diameter??

Sounds like a dodgy sensor or something of that order to me.

no they dont have a dyno i brought the car at mitsubishi they gave the car to ford at cardiff to fix it which i was happy about at first but the head machanic still thinks there is nothing wrong with the car even when it is dangerous when overtaking leaves you stuck out on the wrong side of the road going nowhere its very strange that no1 has had this problem i have had 2 other cars with the same motor and this one i have now is the quietest and smoothest one ive had untill you hit the rev limit its driving me nuts

it sounds like the shift point for your box are out.
have you got a upgraded diff with higher ratios? as i have and this happens to mine.
but i know its from the rev limiter so i dont worry aboutit too much as this will be fixed when i get it dyno tuned.
