Ok, i got a bit of a conundrum.

I have a 95 EF XR8, I went to fill it up at a servo around the corner from me. After filling up I turn the key as per normal and it doesnt start. She cranks over but doesnt fire. No cough or splutter.

Now I will be looking at the fuel pump tomorrow, hoping that there is a loose connection or what not. Is there anything else i should be looking at?

Im pretty sure the pump is whirring at start up, bit i will see tomorrow. Still a bit p****d off about getting a tow about a km from home.

Also pump is a walbro 255.

Just been through a similar thing. Check for spark, could be coil or dizzy (the TFI module at least). I never actually got mine to fire in the end, I just replaced the engine...

Well it has happened before, after getting a tow back, i went out to the car and it fired as per normal, thats why i think something may be loose.

Also have another motor here to go in. :D

How bloody annoying is that. Check your relays are in the whole way too, especially the ones under the water bottle!

Sounds like overheated TFI to me. Check and replace as necessary.

I have had this prob on another car, it was a six though. exact same symptoms as when the ignition module was starting to go on my old eb.
But knowing my track record with advice lately, it could be a flat tyre :?

Yep sounds like TFI module to me.

As already said, it the module mountedto the side of the dizzy. Dizzy has to come out to be replaced.

I run one of those BPT dyna-mod TFI's, saying that i think you are too yeah?

Yeah mate.

Im running their Dynamods too, i have my stock one in the shed so i'll see how it goes.

Saying that, i dont know if heat coulda been the problem, i drove the car about a km to the servo cold. I'll see, if its a faulty on i will get another.

If it's cold and it's the TFI, it would start fine. When they get warm, there is more resistance which is why it's harder to start warm.

Well i'd say it must be something to do with the ignition, seems like its running on 7 at idle under load or just idling.

Will check cap, leads, plugs and TFI.

Next time it does it, push the pin in on the schrader valve on the fuel rail to see if any fuel comes out.
