I was told on here that my ea would have to be engineered to fit an 8 in it i was just gonna deal with that an do the 6 up but yea nuh i want a v8 in it i like the body and i just bought the car so i wanna keep it what actually is involved to fit an 8? is it costly?

The main problem I see is that an 8 wasnt released from the factory in an EA. So you cant just grab an EA V8 cross member etc... maybe the EB stuff will do the trick?

You need engine, mounts, computer, looms, trans computer, dash, gearbox...

Do you even know if it's going to fit? I was under the impression ford didnt do a V8 EA as there wasnt really enough room....

Why not just bolt a turbo kit onto the 6? Will be much cheaper imo....

well there isn't much difference in the cars for the whole e series, space wise. I think an v8 is possible but you have some work ahead of you.

EA - EB are almost identical, I don't see what the problem would be with space etc

If thats it then Ford must have used a differant one for the 8's, because AFAIK they are the same on the 6's. Whatever problems you encounter, should be fairly easy to resolve, because as you say it been done before and the parts should be readily available.

Go yourself a favour and asve some money.

Go out and buy a V8 EBII Fiarmont Ghia. You can pick up the car for about 4-8000 depending on nick and k's. Nicer looking car with heaps better interior than the EA.

I wouldn't be overly confident the V8 loom will marry up with the dash loom in the EA anyway (at least being a ghia it is multipoint).

If you go ahead with this, there are just too many headaches to be overcome, for, IMO absolutely no gain when there is such an easy alternative.

The series 1 EB wiring loom will match up with the EA, but you are right he should save up and just buy an EB fairmont ghia 5l, or buy mine :D

If you do this there are things that will probably not work anymore, like trip computer, Climate control (water temp sensor) and quite possibly the g/box (assuming it is a SII with the 4spd. The engine and box computers talk to each other.

EDIT........You could then of course just go the whole hog and have a mnaual conversion as well!
