Gday

I have been told that the 302 has 3 inches of stroke and the 351 has 3.5. How do you rotate the engine to measure from TDC to BDC with a piece of wire?

If the belt is tight enough you can just use your hands on the fan, unless your a p***y with broom stick arms. Thats what I did on my last two clevelands.

People will say high compression will make it hard, but thats not quite true. Because you turn it so slow the bleed off helps with that.

I used to be able to hand turn my motor, but after the rebuild and upping the compression I cant any more. Now I just put a socket (cant remember the size, someone else will) onto the nut in the drive pully and throw a wrench on it, works a treat
