Engine has been sitting for a while with no oil in it. Thinking it would be a good idea to clean it out as I've had the valley cover off and although I plugged all the holes I'm sure bits of gasket will get in the motor. Motor also had a little water get in which I why I dumped the oil. Was thinking on filling up with kero and sitting for an hour then dumping it and fresh oil. Any thoughts?

Valley covers are found on big block Pontiac V8's.....Intake Manifolds sometimes contain an integral valley cover....like a highrise 'spider' looking intake.

Anyway, filling the engine to the rocker covers won't hurt it, and you could leave it sit for a week....won't hurt it.......drain it, put some cheap oil ( Castrol GTX or similar ) in it, a filter, run it, don't drive, on a high idle of about 1,500 rpm for about 20 minutes, drain while hot, fill with desired oil, change filter, and go from there.

Between the heads I'm guessing. Only a guess though, no need to get uptight.
