A mate bought an XY the other day,the owner said it was a 302,with a FMX box

One bloke said a 302 and FMX slusher is a rare combo    WTF

He said it is more than likley it's a 351 :? :? :?

So we will measure the stroke and see what we get

vik...what length is 351,and the same for a 302???thanks blokes...

I have an old dip stick here that i've punched with both strokes, i just pull the plug out and turn it over to find out what it is.

I cant see why a FMX wouldnt go behind a 302. I think the FMX only came out on the higher spec 351's from the factory.

FMX only came factory behind 351C in Aussie cars, but C4 also came behind 351 in some models, FMX has 2.4 (or was that 2.39?) first gear, compared to C4(2.46 same as C6).

FMX's extra weight and slightly higher gearing does nothing for quick launches in a 302 LOL

So someone has fitted it with a crap auto.

Yeah that's basically it Jase, they're a sludge box, they rob so much HP it's not funny.
I went from C10 to FMX in early days as they were known as a tough box, f**k me i found out the hard way, i went back to C10 quick smart.
The extra weight alone is a f**k killer, The FMX is full cast iron compared to alloy for C10.
Measure your stroke vik which for you is around 2.5 inches, and as above for a Clevo.

Vik... grow a d**k!!!

FMX's in stock form handle more power than C10's hence their fitment behind 351's. Just a side note. A C10 is really just a later revision of a C4. So in essense a C10 is not a C10 it's a C4.

I'm a believer in if it ain't broken? Don't fix it! FMX's are strong low maintenance box's. As I said in another thread high hp/torque = C4/10 bye bye especially if built in Vic

I broke 5 pan fill c4's or c10's as you guys call it in 5 years and all did bugger all k's. The last 3 built by well known C4 builders of which I won'tname as they were very good. Just a shame the box wasn't durable. After I fitted a powerglide I noticed the powerglide runs much much much cooler. I run 2 massive transcoolers so heat should never be an issue. Glides been in there 2 years now and I've not done a thing to it apart from put around 500mls of oil.

On the street it gets driven very sedately. Always on or below the speed limit. It may seem fast to some but 600hp/500ftlbs and 4.11's does that. It's a very rare occasion if I push it on the street. Hence why I've had the same 205 rear tyres for 3 years.
