as long as all the bolts are undone , it should
come off. maybe stuck in place from 20 years of dirt, corrosion ect. try gently prying with a lever to break the seal.. |

Give it a tap next to the dizzy with a soft face mallet and then use an appropriate sized punch inserted into a bolt hole to lever it off. Worked well for mine.

Single throat carby on a cleveland ??? I think what you have is a Stromberg dual throat carby. Sufficient for a standard 302, but if you want to keep the oil companies in business put the big one on.

Tap a screw driver into the very front where the cork gasket goes across the front and lever it, it'l come off easy once you lift a tad and break the seal.
What kind of car is this in? I highly doubt it's a single throat, more than likely a Motorcraft 2 barrel. As for the Thermoquad, the best place i've found for those is in the scrap bin, they're a big plastic piece of s**t! Is it a 302 or 351? If your car is pre pollution then go for a Holley. Throw up a bit more info and you'll get better answers. |

yep go the old screw driver in the front and it'll come up easy, on my 351 I had little cut outs in the heads where I was able to get a driver in and reef it out.

. Ts this because you don't like the long setup as I have found them VERY easy to mod and get really good economy WITH excellent top end and acceleration IF set up correctly

That's because they have very small primaries and huge secondaries.
There was a guy in Melb a few years back who was a master with them, but i still wouldn't use one unless it was for pollution reasons. |

I,ve found nothing wrong with Thermoquads. Yes they are a bit fiddly to tune compared to a Holley, but they are reliable and have good throttle responce due to the small primaries. They also make a great sound when you open up the large secondaries. I have one one my 302C and I can cold start it and pretty much drive away without any problems.
