I've started the strip down on my EF and have noticed that the cobra manifold does not have the throttle cable mount like the HO manifold does, has anyone done this mod, is so can you tell me how you mounted the throttle cables, there's a few other things I've noticed but this looks like the biggest headache so far

Thats really the only issue, I just made up a dodgy bracket which I just packed with washers and bolts to get the correct spacing away from the TB. I will try and get some pics and post them up, its not pretty but it works perfectly and no one can see it anyway. There are some other slight differences like no coolant lines to the TB spacer, and often slightly different vacuum line hookups but they are easy to get around.

Actually I too was going to ask you to throw up a picture of your custom bracket Grant but kept forgetting to ask you.

I just mounted the cable from the front, mind you I was using Cobra throttle body. Bent and welded braket to front two bolts..Just fabricate old braket in same location as old one?? I think you need shorter throttle body bolts also as the EGR is intergated into manifold...

Just had the same problem with re-fitting my rebuilt 302 into my efxr8.Got around the problem by using a spacer I got made up.Its just like the old egr spacer made out of 25mm aluminium with a 70 mm hole in it and 2 studs tapped into it in the same spot where the bracket goes.It was made using a laser cutter,I can get another one made if you want one as the program is still in the computer.

thanks for the offer, I'll see how I go with making a bracket first, but your option sounds neater.

No because explorers still use the EGR spacer which is where the TB cables attach. Cobra's have the EGR spacer already built in and therefore the throttle mounting points are on the wrong side for aussie engines.

Will the EGR spacer be restrictive on the E series with explorer manifold?? If it is should I just grind it out a bit?

Cheers
