G'day Forum,
I have a 1993 5.0L H.O. (ED Falcon) completly stock, never opened ... I believe it has 9.00 : 1 compression ratio. How much should I shave of the standard heads to get the comp to around 10.2? I run a 98 Octane fuel all the time, it should handle it shouldnt it? Or will it ping its head off (Pardon the pun). Piston - to - valve clearance should be ok? Even if I decide to put 1.72 rockers on it? Thanks guys,

You will need to shave about 0.06" off which will probably cause intake alignment problems, so you will have to get the intake machined too. 10.2 is a bit much IMO but if running premium it may be ok. I wouldn't really bother puting that much work in and still run the E7 heads which really dont flow well in the first place. A better idea would be to get some GT40P's which flow a lot more and have smaller combustion chambers to start with raising the compression to around 9.5:1.

Hmm
Good point about the manifold alignment ... Just was brewing on an idea .... perhaps starting with the GT40P's could be a little smarter ... I was looking for some quick simple ways to drag a few more horses out of stock engine, and since I will have a ported manifold to go I figured why not pop the heads off for a quick clean up and shave .... Hmmm .... the plot thickens .... Thanks
