I have noticed when driving with cruise control on the V8 it drinks heaps more petrol then when its not in use.
In the i6 you wont see any diffrence but in the V8 you will definitly see the diffrence?

On the I6 you seem to save fuel.
I never got the cruise working after the V8 conversion

I've noticed in general that when at crusing speeds, the smallest changes in throttle have little effect on speed but significantly alter the instantaneous fuel consumption...
In short... i can get better economy using my foot than cruise in most conditions... i only use on long flat roads as cruise can match my fuel consumption figures... It's pretty funny playing around with cruise when it sends the blower into boost... and then backs right off the throttle... then gets back on it and sends back into boost... hehehe.

I dunno, I've made a few long trips 12hr+ and I tend to get further with the cruise on, then again if I'm in a hurry I tend to override the cruise so it probably doesn't count

I used to get better economy using the cruise than without - But that was when the car was pretty much stock (ie... only exhaust and chip)
I havent used it though, since I got a new throttle body, and the clip at the end to attach to the cruise cable got broken.

I have never noticed any difference in fuel consumption, but I don't pay very close attention to it either.

I have found the same thing in my ute. For those that have commented, are you running auto or manual?
Just wondering if the way cruise uses the throttle, it causes the converter to "unlock" more often... |
