XR9Ute (Pete?) yeah spiral gear set, Torsen/Quaiffe etc. are a rip off of the TrueTrac design (Eaton did it first, Harrop remake them under license from billet instead of cast materials)
{USERNAME} wrote: ok so thats wat a diff looks like when they go bang for real. Is it very difficult or special tools needed to change an axle? or is ther a guide somwer about it. And datamine it seems like you have done everything. or atleast know preety much everything. where do you get your info? And was it your car i read about a few months ago that the tailshaft snappd on the dyno? thats som wild stuff. lol, I don't know everything, but have lots of experience. I actively do what I can with my cars, and plenty of research on the stuff I can't (before I pay someone to do it for me). And yeah it was my EL (many years ago now) with the broken tail shaft.

Hey Dude,
I was quoted $3,000 for a TrueTrac LSD Centre and 3.9 Diff Gears in my Fairmont 3V. That was at WA Diff Centre in O'Conner. This guy done the diff on my bros commodore, done a top notch job and was finished the same day.

{USERNAME} wrote: As said it's built with better stuff. the TrueTrac centre alone is ~1600 The centre damaged the IRS cradle on it's way out - tore off the main bush mount. New cradle was ~1400. A new one (diff only) from Ford would be ~5k anyway. So I got out of it with a much better diff, for the same Fraud Spare would charge me for parts alone. me = If your happy thats the main thing. Thats a pretty $$$$$ way of going about it tho.. could have picked up a whole irs for ~$750 then built it up with tuff CV's and a trutrack for less i'd imagine. but whatever floats ya boat.

Its a pretty far removed from stock BF GT-P we are talking about here. Data_Mine is not known for screwing up and having to do something a second time, also this is a car that sees plenty of track time, Build it once, build it strong. To most this may seem overkill, for what he does with the car, I'd expect nothing less.

Thanks, yeah I do go all out when modding, the car gets driven hard all the time (track and strip action every few weeks), things break/wear out, they get replaced with good stuff. The new cradle has been reinforced too, lower control arms where the sway bar mounts are known to crack (it's now plated), diff bush mounts again a weak point, strengthened, when the cradle mounts to the body plated up too. All with the end goal of it getting a new built motor and 'charged in the not to distant future.

Hey Dude,
Yeah the XR6T diff's arent too bad, but if you got the spare cash go for the true trac centre im told there very very strong. Tune is definatyely worth the money man, out of all the mods i done i noticed the biggest difference from the tune, but get them to actually put it on the dyno and tune it instead of a generic one. I just got the BPT generic and its hell good, but the dyno tunes give you more power. Cheers Mate,
