Apart from the KW's what hardware differences are there between the 2 types of V8's?

Weren't the 200's and 220's hand built whilst the 185's were just a normal windsor with GT40p heads, explorer intake, roller rockers (1.6 or 1.72?) and bigger injectors, Maf and t/b?

Ported heads, roller rockers, cam, 70mm throttle body, extractors and exhaust for 220. 200 is same minus ported heads and had a 65mm throttle.

Doubt it. If anything you'd probably lose some low down power. You'd do all the other bolt ons before you'd touch them 2.

And don't forget most of the non-XR AU V8's are actually 175KW, a slightly different beast again

The MAF isn't a restriction in any way, and going bigger than a 65mm throttlebody won't gain much, if any at all. Ditch the factory exhaust stuff and get a decent exhaust, the factory xr8 stuff isn't that much better than the junk they fitted to the base v8's. Get some pacemakers and a twin 2 and a 1/4 exhaust with some higher flowing mufflers and cats. Get a k&n filter and cut the front out of the lower airbox to open it up a bit. Fit an xr snorkle if you don't already have one. Then get it all tuned. Go cam, roller rockers and a good set of alloy heads if you want to go further, with a bigger throttle body to match. The factory inlet manifolds are pretty good on the au's, but the hole for the throttle body is only 65mm and needs to be bored out if you go bigger than that. |

I don't have a K&N filter just a 3" pod filter inside the original air box with a BA larger type snorkel (I think its like the tickford T Series type only without the logo). Apart from the exhaust & XR8 extractors everything else is standard. If i done the above mentioned mods what kind of killerwasps am i looking at - at the wheels??? |

Digging up an older thread here but anyway, I recently have acquired a AU xr8 220 series 2.
What are the differences between a series 2 and series 3 xr8 220? Any differences in specs? I know the side skirt and rear bar are different but I was curious if there was any differences in the engine or suspension. Thanks

revcore wrote: Take a read of this.... http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11203667 Thanks revcore an interesting read sums it up well. One thing I have noticed between between the 220kw 5.0l and the ute 200kw is the compression ratio is different, 9.4:1 and 9.1:1 respectively. I have the specifications in the brochures from ford for both Ute and sedan. Not sure how they acheived the higher compression ratio as I believe the heads are GT40p's on both motors. Could be a number of different ways. Just thought I would put it out there.
