Gday
Im trying to figure out what engine I have. Its a 351, there are 8 bolts on the rocker covers and the radiator hose comes off the top of the block via a water neck. What do I have? Thanx

Yeah so did I, but on http://www.karmustang.com/cleveland_engines.php it gives conflicting details. U know anyone that wants a brand spanking clevo chrome dipstick if the block ends up being a winsor?

your right about that site, queer, according to it based on your bolts you have clevo, but from your picture it seems windsor style top radiator hose.

You have a clevo. The windsor water outlet attatches to the inlet manifold. Your water outlet is just a right angled version of the one shown on the Yankee website.

i dont know what the confusion was about....
quickest way to tell the difference is where the thermostat housing is, block=cleveland, inlet manifold=windsor according to the website you mentioned, you've got a clevelane......

The BOSS motor was available on the 69-71 Boss Mustang only. It was basically a hipo351 windsor with big port 4v cleveland heads and a rare as hens teeth special intake manifold. Damn good cars, one of my earliest memories is of my dads HO and his brother inlaw's BOSS going for it on the Hay planes.

Brett Geez the old Hay plains get a workout I used to use that road to get to see my old man in Adelaide.

Brett Nope, the BOSS 351 is all cleveland. It was a 4bolt cleveland block. Only the BOSS 302 has a 302 windsor style block. The thermostat housing on that cleveland in the picture is a late emissions style type. Only early cleve's had the vertical housing which used a bent hose. Cheers, Pete. |

by looking at your pic, definately Cleveland.
Apart from the differences pointed out above, the Windsor block, (as stated above) used on boss engines is smaller than the Cleveland. |

Here's some good pics on this site.
As you can see the engine has ally rocker covers(the type the Ford racing ones are based on) an ally intake and autolite carb. See the Ram-Air cleaner assembly also. http://www.carmemories.com/cmem/Ford/Mu ... s/Boss+351 Pete. |
