well I've just fitted my 70mm MAf and 65mm TB (after a bit of arsing around), I've got the U/D pulleys to fit, but need to sort out a charging issue first, so after I fit them whats next, I'm thinking intake manifold, mine is an EF2 V8 ex-chaser, so I don't know what I have as stock, would I make gains from a AU setup (S/H=cheaper) or should I go after market (dearer), or do I look for something out of a truck.

Have you done exhaust and extractors, if not thats the first thing you need to look at. Intake manifold would be a good next step but with the stock heads any other engine mods are going to be limited by the heads. The AU intake manifold is a good unit and flows plenty for most 5L setups, and as you said is cheaper than aftermarket. Also look at roller rockers, they are normally a bolt on 10kw for around $500.

yep I've got pacemakers back to the standard cats then a lukey muffler and 2.25" (to reduce drone) tailpipe, I use to have a 2.5" with a walker turbosomething muffler, but the drone was horrendous.

So looks like it's the manifold next, all I need to do is source a cheap AU upper and lower manifold, are they what is refered to as the "explorer".

The 2.25" exhaust and standard cats will be holding you back a bit. I use to run a 2.5" without any droning, and even now with the 3" is is still fine, it all comes down to design. As I said, it is probably already a restriction and its going to get worse as you do more mods IMO.

Yeah the AU manifold is also called an explorer manifold.

You dont have to port the explorer manifold? Just bolt it on and its good for some extra KW's?
What about AU III XR8 heads and manifold? Would that work on an EF/ EL Windsor?

I have AUIII heads on my ED and IMO they are a very decent head, but they can be difficult to find as they are only used on 220kw and 250kw Tickford engines. Even AUI or II heads are decent though and can often found fairly cheaply. The AU/Explorer manifolds aren't the greatest available but they flow enough for most 5L and even mild stroker engines.

Umm correct me if I'm wrong but I think the E.L ll came out with the better manifold ??? Are the runners inline or stagered on the upper / lower gasget??? Stagered is what you want...

Extrude honing the intake is always good, especially on a GT40P or Explorer manifold. ELs shared the same intake, except those later model EL XR8s. Exhaust would be a good option.. If you're going to do the intake, you may as well do the cam and heads as well.

I would fit an Edelbrock next, easy bolt up, but then heads and cam would be holding it back( as has happened to mine). Also consider a unichip, have one on mine and it performs flawlessly, but do it as the last step as reprograms are expensive. Will advise of power output when mine is re dynoed. The edelbrock is an awesome amnifold, but can be a bit exxy, i got mine for 1000 but had to wait a bloody long time to get it. Also next would be 3.7 or 3.9 diff gears, and my favorite at the moment a sweet little dry kit of NOS

NOS will never happen for me, no point having it on the street, and I'm not interested in strip work, to much strain on everything, diff ratio is fine, it is a daily driver after all, but hte manifold may be an option, but at that price it'll be years down the track
