Hi all, i just did a twin system on my fairlane which drops at the diff, sounds fantastic but its not that loud. i love the note but even at full throttle its relatively quiet. will putting GT40p heads on make it alot louder as i have heard the e7s cut alot of the noise out. im actually suprised as to how quiet it is

Umm ?? Extractors would.. Depends on mufflers..
Heads & inlet would help... From AU on..

its a proper exhaust, EL GT extractors, high flow cats, 2.25 pipes with straight through mufflers
it sounds fantastic but its not that loud, i heard someone once say that the head design has a huge amount to do with the sound and loudness of an exhaust note, was jsut wondering what would change by changing over to the AU heads |

if they are strait through fibreglass packed mufflers (like i have on both my xr8's) then give them time and they will get louder. i've had the system on my el for about 3-4 weeks and its still settling.
if ur Q is more about why heads change the sound of a car, well probly a number of factors like compression ratio change, chamber design, valve sizes and port lengths. |

the system is basically el gt extractors with high flow cats, the pipes are twin 2.25 press bent with a crosspipe. twin straight through mufflers dumped before the diff. i dont htink the mufflers are overly expensive ones

I only ask because I'm re-visiting my dual setup again. What brand mufflers ie Lukey, Redback, Supercat etc and what size are the mufflers? If you don't mind, can you get a tape measure under there for me and see how long and wide they are? cheers

Your system sounds almost identical to mine except I didn't fit mufflers at all, just a few hotdogs And mine is pretty loud. I also have E7's, so I don't think that is what is keeping yours quiet.
I actually had to fit a third pair of hotdogs because it was too loud That is the only difference between your system and mine........mufflers! Cheers, Mick

I have a 5.0 EL Ghia that I recently bought Pacemaker PH4001 headers for only to find that there was no way I could fit them based on both the plug angle and engine bay clearance. I was luck to sell them for what they cost me so I could get a set of PH4000 headers which will go on next week

Easiest way to get noise is exhaust. Next is the cam. Grumpy has big lobe separation.

EB GT, ED XR8 Sprint and EL GT had GT40s, which have the same plug angle as E7s.
FBT got GT40Ps, which have the difficult plug angle.
