for the amount of money spent on getting a stocker EB motor stroked to 347 with all that fruit I'd say something is bad with the engine. 50,000k old? for 6000? nah id steer clear or get it looked at by a specialist. Maybe its had a bad tune which has screwed it. on the other hand, might just be a component that was overlooked in the rebuild thats holdin it back. My 347 with GT40p heads makes 236rwkw. If it's in good nick it certainly is a bargain but i'd very a bit sus. And yeah it should be making way more than just 200rwkw i reckon.
edit: by comparison, my 347 cost $10,000 to get up and running and that was just for the engine. |

I'd like to see what it's doing everywhere else in rev range in both power and torque?
Is the link ecu running the whole show....maybe there is no MAF already? Is that cam spec with the 1.7 rocker ratio factored in? Because power wise it sounds about right with that little cam and it probably only has a performer intake. Exactly what are the injectors? "Petro-ject" is meaningless. |

I think you guys are forgetting one major thing. A 347 stroker doesnt always give major gains over a 5.0L in top end power. Sure it should make more HP up top but its usually only around 20rwhp. A 347's major gain is in torque, you'll find this car will have bucketloads more torque than a 5.0L with the same mods.
Dont always be thinking about peak power,especially on a chassis dyno, at the end of the day its just a wank factor. What dyno was the car ran on? Has everyone that is quoting rear wheel HP/KW numbers here ran their car on the same dyno as the car in question? The car in question is making 272rwhp. Which isnt too bad at all. There are many factors which could be limiting its power output. He says its running Edelbrock heads. These may only be the Performer 5.0's with a 170cc runner, theres a restriction on peak power for a 347. It says Edelbrock manifold, what manifold? It may be a Performer 5.0. Another limiting factor for peak HP on a 347. That cam is very mild for a 347 and if the lift is at the valve with the 1.7's then there you go, another limiting factor. What size injectors? What size MAF? What headers? Primary size etc? What exhaust? What comp ratio? Theres just too many factors involved. I wouldnt by any means say that the engine is stuffed. All of the above are possibly a restriction of peak power but would make for a damn torquey street car. Jeff

Hey, thanks for all the replys guys, very informative. I'm not too sure on the size of the injectors, i'll have this information mid-week. Its got pacie headers, again not sure on the size. Exhaust is a 2.1/4" into a single 2.5", not sure on how many mufflers but i'd assume there are a few because the car is pretty quite.

Is it just me or is that thing running the standard EGR plate? And possibly the standard MAF unit?
I think there is more in that combo, especially seeing as that camshaft is the largest 'off the shelf' that Crow do. However without seeing the car and what parts have been used its impossible to say where the problem lies. Do you have any dyno graphs for the engine?

EGR plate looks like a BBK unit, with the two raised sections on the top. With this fitted i'd be checking for full throttle. MAF is definately bigger than the std 55mm unit, looks like it might just be a blank type as if its running a MAFless tune already.

Remove the intake piping between MAF and T/B. Have a mate sit in the car, with the engine shut OFF, and put his foot flat on the throttle while you look into the T/B and make sure the butterfly is going all the way to WOT, i.e 90degrees.
