Hi guys, just wondering if anyone could tell me the part numbers for the three coolant temp sensors, the two in the heater rail and the one in the lower manifold. Need to tell a supplier i am buying them off what the number is to make sure, don't wanna buy them and when they get over here realize they don't fit my loom plugs. Think it's time to replace them as my poor old LTD would hardly move off C after driving for hours and ran rich as hell.
Cheers, Mason |

i dont know the part numbers but if the car is running cold it might not be the sensors?
does it have a thermostat fitted? if so what temp is it rated? |

Hey Troyman,
Yes it has a brand new Tstat fitted, forgot what it's rated at, but ordered it from Repco to suit my car so i presume it's the correct one. It was running nice and warm one day then it started running really s**t and rich (then the auto died) and the engine temp moved just up from C and no more, i took it on a run to Christchurch (4 hour drive) and by the time i got there, it had only moved a mm or so up from that. This is before the Auto died, so last year. Just wanting to change the temp sensors before i fill the coolant system back up again from doing the explorer install. |

Could it be the IAT? When i pulled it out of the HO intake it was caked in muck and s**t, using the AU IAT now so could fix that one........

ok
the ait will make it run rich if its out of operating range.. but the temp being cold is usually no thermostat or a too cold thermostat but if you have replaced it then yes look at the sensors.. |

I might pull the thermostat off before i fill it up and double check it's the right one.... Hey you don't know what side of the AU AIT/IAT plug is + and which is - ? I had a post below this but no one could tell me. I have the AU IAT in the original AU position as i have the AU intake tube, and i need to wire up my wiring loom to the AU plug, but don't know which wire goes to what side?
Does anyone have a parts catalogue? Really need these numbers.. |

You have 3 independant sensors. The one in the lower intake manifold at the front left (single spade terminal) is for the temperature gauge. The one in the coolant pipe with the blue plug (wires into engine computer loom) is for climate control, the other one is the ECT sensor (wires into injector harness). These things usually operate forever without problems, and to have two sensors die at the same time is highly coincidental. Did the heater "heat" normally when the temperature gauge was reading "cold"? If it did this eliminates the thermostat. I'd check the thermostat with a thermometer in a pan of water anyway. If you have a multimeter you could also check your sensors in the same pan of water. Their resistance changes with temperature. A KOER scan would also bring up a fault code for coolant temp too low.

Surely someone has a parts book? Problem is getting people to read this thread and see. I'm afraid to ask Ford as 1) they know less than i do half the time which is tough. and 2) an intake bolt was gonna cost me $241 so I'm too scared to ask how much a sensor is lol |
