Yeah - the autos are speed limited to about 180 from memory.

EAs and EBs were not speed limited. The first Falcon I drove with a speed limiter was a 1994 ED, it was my mates. The rest of us had EAs and EBs (back then) so we would leave him for dead. Cutout was roughly 181kmh.

Both the EAs I had at the time were manuals (one CFI, one MPI), but the EB that did not have a speed limiter was an Auto.

I have never tried my EF, honest, so I can't tell you whether or not it has one. I assume it does.

My EB Ghia has no speed limiter on it, coz i have taken it over 180 before, plus it's been on the dyno and they said it hasn't got one.....or maybe mine just blew up!!! , lol, nah, i think the EB series 1 at least and before didn't have it.

Ben

The speed limiter, ASAIK, is in the ECU. What you found that has speed controller written on it is probably the fan speed controller. I bet your car has climate control doesn't it ?????

This is all guess work but I'd say I am pretty close to the mark.

if anyone does find a way to remove the speed limiter, please post up, i don't wish to do 180+kmh on the road, i just gona test it one day at the raceway.

get a Chip and take it off (make sure you can with the chip you get 1st), then get a dyno tuner place to do it for you :D

Ummm ??? They must be speed limited through speedo!! I helped fit a T5/6 into an EDXR8 which has an electronic speedo adjuster due to different ratios..AS soon as it hit 180- 200 kph the engine cut out..
But if we adjusted the speedo to do say ?? 30 kph at 1000 rpm instead of 50 kph the cut out was higher...

hmm a speedo gear that shows half the speed you're actually doing.
not a bad idea, trick it.
