would be alot easy to source one from the same model EF/L, save alot of hassale with wirring, as the early EB/D harness has different plugs and runs in different places etc. also if ya running a auto, will need to fit the gearbox ecu.

Yeah they're basically the same. Only difference I can think of is 1. it has a separate ECU for the gear box. 2. It's using a large cluth fan. can't think of anymore. PS why V8? They sucked, keep it 6cyl and just turbo it for bigger rewards without the awesome noise of the 8. :(

It would be easier to use an EF-L 5.0 Harness and EECV in your EF. That way it will just plug in to your vehicle and you'll be able to retain the instruments you have already. So any 5.0 engine from EB-AU can be used it's just the harness than needs to be changed to make it an easier conversion.
AN AU engine will need a distributor from an EB-EL 5.0 to allow it to be used with the earlier EEC.
Just turbo the V8...sixes are boring!

Seriously tho forget turbo six's, turbo the v8 you will laugh yourself stupid at the power.

EL series two XR8 motors have the explorer manifolds so theres another idea.

isn't ef and el v8 wiring different?? thought it was for some reason..

if i was to do it again i would use an AU engine (or modified eb-el) with ef/el harness.. the older eb-el engines are just to uderpowered to even bother. sucks when you go to alot of trouble then your car is slower than it was before!
