I think the dizzy my car has Shat itself agian.
About a month ago The car(1993 EBII Fairmont V8) slowly started to miss and eventualy died . it start then died and the only way to keep it going was to pump the gass pedal. So i though it was the TFI modual but i put a new one in and nothing? Then i got The only Dizzy for the car in New Zealand A second hand one of ford For 350 Bucks exchange And it wnet But today it has died again same story but it just died suddenly could it be the coil causeing the dizzy to f**k out? What afterMarket dizzys and coil are availible for it ? |

MSD do a replacement plug and play dizzy and coil for the 5.0. I had issues with the dissy, but the coil never failed. Check that the bush on the bottom of the dizzy is wearing correctly, as this has been known to be an issue. Also make sure there is enough paste between the TFI and the dizzy plate.
What used to happen with my MSD was it would overhheat. Pouring 2l of water over it cooled it enough to get mobile again. Try that and see if it helps Brett

Thats the trouble with using 2nd hand bits...they could be as bad as what you had.
As Brett says, check the TFI has enough silicon heat transfer grease between it and the distributor body. Check that the TFI has died this time....last time it was obviously the hall effect that died and not the TFI. Did they take your TFI module when you exchanged it? If not wack that on and see if it goes? The coil is unlikely to cause the TFI to die and certainly not the Hall Effect pickup. The Accel Billetech is a good unit...try summitracing.com. |

It might not be just the TFI module, it may also be the pickup inside the dizzy that is failing with heat. I've had to replace a few of them. If you DIY, be sure to mark the dizzy gear orientation on the dizzy shaft.
