Hey guys, car is an EB series 1 V8
was running fine then stalled car will turn over but wont start turn key to "on" fuel pump primes but does not stop priming, it will keep running until i turn the key off, but again the car wont start. i have checked spark which is fine. i suspect the fuel pump relay seeing as tho it wont click the fuel pump off when the key is "on" as it usually does before you start it. seeing as tho they are completely different to any relay i have here i will have to wait till tomorrow to buy a replacement and try that. is there anything else that could be causing the fuel pump to continually run without starting the car? cheers |

very similar to my problem a good idea in there to get rid of the ford relays and replace with bosch or the like |

from the thread above
"The pump has nothing to do with pulling codes, but if you can't pull codes (whether the pump is running or not), that indicates a fatal failure in the EEC. Also, the fuel pressure has nothing to do with the pump running or not - the EEC turns on the relay for ~1sec at each key-on, and then turns it off until it sees a signal from the PIP above 200RPM. If the pump stays on longer than 2sec with the engine stopped, test the fuel pump relay ground circuit from the EEC. If it's grounded, the EEC is bad. If it's not, the relay is stuck." how do i test the fuel pump relay ground circuit from the EEC? |

Sounds like a dead eec to me. Or has it got a J3 adaptor on it?...that maybe dodgy.

no j3 chip/adapter. tried another couple fuel relays to no avail.
im starting to think the eec too.. the relay is only getting around 5 volts with ignition on and when trying to start, at the Winding ground (brown/green) wire in the relay socket which i think should be at battery voltage as its from pin #22 in the ecu.. there is battery voltage at the power supply (orange/blue) and the winding power (red) pins in the relay socket. cant pull any ecu codes using my code reader but i did pull code 67 from the transmission, something with the AC, could there be any links there? or is it safe to say the eec has died? |

only getting 0.4 volts at the Winding ground wire (brown/green) from ecu pin #22, with the relay removed and ignition on..
dead eec? |

the ecu code is 1DGA.. what other ecu code would be interchangeable?
would 1DHA suit? any non smartlock V8 ecu? edit.. a ti j3 chip disabling smartlock in a smartlock V8 ecu should be fine for my non smartlock car correct? |

Problem solved.
Replaced the ECU with one from an ED V8, wired up a smartlock bypass module (which was supplied by Muzza from this forum) fuel pump primed then clicked off as usual and she fired up first go. Havent taken it for a spin yet but we will see how it goes over the next day or 2. |
