Hey Guys,
Just wondering where the Trans Computer lives in the EEC-IV V8's, and how does it integrate into the loom(s) ? I'd imagine there would be some data passed between the ECU and the Trans Computer, but the majority of the wiring would be between the Trans Computer and the Trans. Cheers

All it does is send a trans temp signal so the ecu can adjust idle and fan speed accordingly, a signal when in reverse so to limit the engine power output. Also accepts a signal in from the speedo so that it knows when to shift.

Ok. Any idea of the location, or how it integrates into the engine loom ?

The trans ECU lives to the left of the steering column (facing the wheel), up under the dash mounted onto the pedal box. The wiring to the auto forms the engine compartment harness (as it's known in the manual) this is separate from the engine control harness that connects to the EEC-IV ECU. The interconnection between harnesses is via a 4-pin round connector located under the hood, passenger side, along the main wiring run across the top of the firwall. The seperate harnesses between EEC-IV and auto make it easy for Ford to mass produce eng ctrl harnesses that will suit both manual and auto. This also makes it easy for us to swap between transmissions.

I have converted mine to manual. So I have to leave those ugly plugs laying under the dash and bonnet do I ?
