HI THERE
today i was driving to wollongong when i stoped at traffic lights the car stalled.now it wont start. so i had it towed home. when it come off the tow truck i turned the key and it started . it ran for about 5 seconds and stalled again. i put a test light on the coil and it is getting power. but when i crank it there is no spark from the coil. i even tried turning the ignition on and off while holding coil lead close to earth but no spark... would this mean that the coil has packed it in or do you think it might be the dizzy module????????. i would like to be able to fix it myself as auto electricians and some mechanics s**t charge you a arm and a leg for something that is easy to replace.... im a little p****d off as it cost me $150 to get it towed home... any help would be appreciated thanks........................................ |

Yes the Coils or Dizzies( depending if you have either a EF or EL) do tend to just totally stop dead in their tracks and dont go anymore. I have heard many a stories of both Falcons and Holdens being made totally undriveable because of this. Yes Life is a b**ch... unfortunately

Yes thats why I went with MSD, bypassed Fords TFI... The MSD module is around $450.00 With that you get multy spark up to 3000 rpm... Do you have an alarm fitted ??? Its not an imobilizer doing this ? I think its the front relay that controls engine electrics? Nr battery...

if its cutting spark, it would have to be an aftermarket alarm / immobilizer, smartlock cuts the fuel pulses AFAIK, rather than spark
