Hi all just in reference to my EL XR8 series one, what conditions are run under ecu maps and not oxy sensor readings? i know that closed loop cruise is based on oxy sensor readings (ie overdive at 100kph on freeway) and i know that idle is based on their readings. is everything else done on maps? or is light to mid throttle still based on oxys? i know full throttle is a map.
also are oxy sensors for the v8s the same as the I6s? \ cheers |

the only time they dont use the oxy sensor is during warm up or if a lean code is loged for to long and it will richen automaticly

Wide open throttle goes off the MAF tables. Pretty sure part throttle is oxy sensors.

the oxy isntin use when it is cold, starting, wot, hard acceleration, and during fuell cut off this is the only time it will go into open loop unless it is a open loop system they dont have oxy sensors ,or thers a code causing it

Closed loop is in operation as soon as the HEGO's are up to temp....about a minute from cold but, as mentioned, other factors such as coolant temp, air temp etc have an effect on when this occurs.
Open loop occurs at anything over 70% load(determined primarily via the MAF) and/or whenever the WOT breakpoint is passed(usually 2.71v plus idle TPS volts of say 0.98v = 3.69v) |

imteresting to know. my car has 164,000 on it and i can get a set of genuine sensors for $120 pair so i thought it might be a good investment (appears to be nothing wrong with mine however), given they are that important I might take the plunge.
