Hi Guys,

Im very new to this v8 world.
I have just purchased a 1993 ED 5 litre to build up as a burnout comp car/bit of fun on the drag strip also.

I want a minimum of 330kw without a blower.
Is this achievable from a 5litre?
If so where and what do i do/go to to get this result.

Any help would be amazing, plan on taking to the 2015 ford day in Geelong :)

I was looking at a 347 stroker kit from BPT, any good?

Are you talking 330Kw (440hp) at the flywheel or the rear wheels?

330kw engine mate,
i dont think i'd pull over 300rwkw without chucking a turbo or s/c on it

Its possible. I was just looking at a dyno graph over on the Corral.net, and with a dart blocked 363, AFR 195 heads, Trickflow R manifold, 10.8 comp, cam etc, it made 440 hp, which is basically right on 330kw.

So a good 347 would do around that. Problem is the stock block though, it probably can't handle the power and revs it would need.

What do you mean by wouldn't be able to handle it?
Would there be anything i could do to the stock block?
Looking at getting a full 347 kit includes everything i need for $1450 shipped to my door in either scat or eagle.

The stock blocks aren't real strong. Feed enough power through them, or high revs, and they will eventually split the block. They might last years, or might last weeks.

There is not much you can do to a stock block, but to help it live use ARP bolts, keep the revs down, have the crank internally zero balanced (not the 50oz? imbalance they usually have) and have a conservative tune. Or buy a Dart block and let it rip.

Or use an F4TE roller block 351W which doesn't have the same strength issues, but requires a new sump, dizzy, and only certain extractors will fit, and potential bonnet clearance issues depending on manifold.

if I read it correctly hes after 330kw/440hp at the emgine..
that would be about 250ish rwkw. the stock block should be fine at 250rwkw..

TFS heads and induction, 10 to 1 compression , 280* cam / .550 or so lift 110/ 112 LSA.. With GOOD rods and pistons will get you there . Std crank will be ok . BUT be prepared to rev it .. Oh decent sump.. Windage tray etc..
Stroker crank ? It's best to get as close to neutral balance as you can..
With N/A the lighter / stronger the rotating parts the better it is on block ..
