Here's a breakdown of how many V8's were made in each incarnation of the EF/EL Series'...
EF Ford Falcon 5.0 Litre vehicles Ford Falcon GLi Sedan 5.0L - 137 Ford Falcon XR8 5.0L - 561 Ford Falcon Fairmont 5.0L - 527 Ford Falcon Fairmont Ghia - 576 Ford Falcon Futura 5.0L - 75 EF Ford Falcon Series II 5.0 Litre vehicles Ford Falcon GLi Sedan 5.0L - 78 Ford Falcon XR8 5.0L - 894 Ford Falcon Fairmont 5.0L - 248 Ford Falcon Fairmont Ghia - 408 Ford Falcon Futura 5.0L - 51 Unfortunately, we do not have a complete breakdown of production statistics for the EL series during 1997 and 1998. EL Ford Falcon 5.0 Litre vehicles Ford Falcon GLi Sedan 5.0L - 142 Ford Falcon XR8 5.0L - 1386 Ford Falcon Fairmont 5.0L - 72 Ford Falcon Fairmont Ghia - 413 Ford Falcon Futura 5.0L - 78 Ford Falcon GT - 283 Stats came from Ford Customer Relationship Centre.

When I contacted Ford in regard to EL's fitted with V8's, these are the numbers they say were fitted to EL's in 1996 & 1997. 1996 GLi sedans total = 20 1996 GLI wagons total = 10 1997 GLi sedans total = 102 1997 GLi wagons total = 36 In 1996 + 1997 it was a total of 122 for GLi sedans In 1996 + 1997 it was a total of 46 GLi wagons 1996 Futura sedans = 16 1996 Futura wagons = 0 1997 Futura sedans = 46 1997 Futura wagons = 0 In 1996 + 1997 it was a total of 62 for GLI sedans In 1996 + 1997 it was a total of 0 for GLI wagons 1996 Fairmont sedans = 72 1996 Fairmont wagons = 30 1997 Fairmont sedans = 150 1997 Fairmont wagons = 68 In 1996 + 1997 it was a total of 222 for Fairmont sedans In 1996 + 1997 it was a total of 98 for Fairmont wagons 1996 Fairmont Ghia sedans total = 191 1996 Fairmont Ghia wagons total = 0 1997 Fairmont Ghia sedans total = 284 1997 Fairmont Ghia wagons total = 0 In 1996 + 1997 it was a total of 475 for Fairmont Ghia sedans In 1996 + 1997 it was a total of 0 for Fairmont Ghia wagons

Yeah, those numbers seem small, I have also contacted Ford and been given 222 as the number of EL Fairmonts.

Don't know any specifics, I just rang them up asking how many series 2 EF Ghias were made with the V8. They said they didn't have any figures to hand so I sent them an email and they replied with the figures you see above...

It's a bit hard to make V8 fairmont ghia wagons when they didn't even make Fairmont Ghia wagons in the first place isn't it?

happy enough with my EL V8 Fairmont wagon, didnt realise they were that uncommon... just a shame I just got it right & some feral uninsured, broke halfwit didnt give way & Im having to repar the some serious frontal damage.
