Hi all, I am wondering whether to convert my Ghia to manual. I was thinking along the lines of putting a hydaulic BA clutch in it. How hard do you think this would be? Car is currently auto.

Anyone wanna swap a V8 AUTO AND ecu a Manual and ECU??? *LOL*

To put a hydraulic clutch in a 5L using a T5 will be near on impossible

Bit too late on the swap raff, I posted up an expression of interest to swap my manual and didn't think anyone would be interested. A few days later, I had an auto behind my windsor again. It's a very good mod and well worth doing, it totally changes the way your engine sounds and goes and the acceleration even from a stock windsor is a lot better than that of an auto.

Don't be put off by the clutch cable. I had a heavy duty clutch in mine and never had any dramas with the manual pedal box and firewall (over 4 years) and it wasn't all that heavy either.

damn bit late :-(

I have not been on as my daughters been in hospital- ah Im sure another will pop up.

So Barnacus- why did you change her back to to auto??

I am sick of mine being auto- totally over it. I drove a manual EB XR8- stock as,more stock then my ghia *lol* but it was just a fantastic drive- great, same as the 4L with a manual behind it a totally different car. I reckon my other thoughts ie: explorer, throttle body, Headers- will benfit from it being a 5 spd :-) But a have to change it to manual first!!!

What sort of dollars do you think's required Barnacus?? Pedal Box change, box, and clutch setup??
and ecu too I guess....maybe from an ef xr8- manual if anyones got one?? :P

I changed the wagon back to auto because I'll be using it for towing a boat plus at the time I had a BA2 XR8 with the 6 speed manual. But now, the BA has made way for a little VW. I didn't have a towbar on the XR8 nor do I intend to put one on the Golf, manuals are a bit of pain when it comes to towing boats, boat ramps etc..
