Hey guys.

Im getting a little tired of my i6 and every tom, d**k and harry have them (sorry if i offend anyone).

Im thinking about converting my i6 to a V8.

In the process i would buy all the stuff for the conversion but i am thinking about building a decent motor at the same time.

What would i need for the conversion and how much time, effort and money will it cost?

if it costs too much im thiking of getting a V8 anyway because i just love them.

But anything anyone has to say would be great.

Thanks

Ben

Might be easier to find yourself an ex-chaser EF V8 and sell your car.

The cost in changing it over would be roughly the same as doing a conversion, if not it wouldnt cost you a thing if you sell your car at good price and pick up an ex-chaser for a good price.

yeah thinking of that but im not going to sell my car anytime soon. I was just thinking something i could do to it that would make me want to keep it for a bit.

i am currently thinking of getting a AU II/III or BA at the end of the year or this time next year.

the conversion isn't all that hard it's just time consuming. If your looking at getting a new car end of this year or next it wouldn't be worth doing, I'd only do it if your set on not selling it any time soon and it holds some scentamental value.

Easier said than done... they're a bit thin on the ground!!

I assume the k fram is different on the chassis... trans a little different as well.

ECU, trans controller unit....

EFI harness... so basically rewire the engine to the ECU.

Vacuum system... need EGR finctionality etc...

Well for 3rd party and only that for the EF i6 it cost me $201 a year.

For 3rd party, fire and theift its $401 a year.

So im pretty happy with that.

But then i got other crap like ill have to pay the first $1500 and all that which sucks.

Insurance is supprisingly cheaper for a V8... in comparison to the 6cyl... i have no idea why... it costs me around $1,300 for full comprehensive, and the 6cyl is around $1,450.

Considering how little an EF Gli is worth these days, why not?
