My brother is looking at an EF II ghia in the 5L. Did the EF II's come stock with the 3.45 LSD? I know it was an option on the EF I

Don't know about standard, but my EFII definately has the 3.45 and the woman I bought it off didn't seem to be the modifying type...

Could have been a factory option, or was she the only owner? Found a really clean EF II with sunroof and FTR's pretty cheap, would be a nice bonus if it had LSD.

I would've sworn that they only had 3.27 gears...

www.geocities.com/falconfacts might be able to help with EF specs

*EDIT* nope, no info from that site :( Sorry

Just checked my owners manual - very UNinformative!! It simply says that there was the option of 3.08, 3.23 or 3.45 gearing. Looks like you'll just have to stick your head under it and look at the diff. The ratio is printed there in pretty big bloody type, can't miss it. I'm pretty sure tho that all ghias come with a LSD. Even my old XF Ghia had one...

no they were 3.27LSD up until the EL Series 2 XR8, the 6's were 3.45 and 8's 3.27 beforehand. :)

[EDIT] It was either 3.23 or 3.27 can't remember which but you get the drift

Well isnt that gay, whats the point of that? Better fuel efficiency because its an 8 or to keep the performance relatively the same

Definitely 3.23. If you need to verify have a look at the tag on the diff, right axle housing looking at it from the back.

Perhaps Ford thought they had enough bottom end and didn't need a 3.45 like the I6 does.

It's all relative If you have enough REAL HORSEPOWER YOU CAN RUN A 3.0 DIFF (AS in my GTHO) still get reasonable milage and tear up the roadway from a standing start in the dry :D :D :D
