My mates auto XR8 with 3.9 gears use to sit at 2700rpm with 16" rims so it doesn't seem quite right but you do have a better than stock ratio, even if it isn't 4.11's and I guess you can only go on what the previous owner told you.

What would be some advantagous power gains that wont break the bank as im a student.

try this for 'student budget' mods: http://www.diyporting.com/ Look at the 5.0 lower intake page and the project e7te pages. intake improves to 197 cfm and over with only metal removal on the stock parts. best bang for buck mod on the 5.0 IMO. then extractors & exhaust as funds permit.

for some cross references see the info on these pages:
http://www.workmonster.com/index.htm
http://www.mustangcentral.net/tech/e7.html
http://www.musclemustangfastfords.com/t ... FF_Greedy/ Power heads represent the best that can possibly be had from porting the e7te heads.
http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=334773
Compare the power heads flow numbers (and mouses diy jobs with stock valves) to the expensive aftermarket efforts, especially at lower lifts . the intake chart is a good confirmation of the diyporting pages, and home porting the HO lower can make the HO intake comparable to the gt40/cobra/explorer. look further down to see maf & tb flow. a 5.0 turning 6000rpm with a near unatainable 100% effeciency will consume a peak of 302ci*6000rpm/3456=524cfm of air making the maf and tb fine as is unless you put in a very large cam and rev the motor harder than this or stroke it!

like any good student, do some research for yourself as to what suits you best on your budget. torque and midrange is more fun than hp on the street IMO, & it's cheaper to gain. do some searches typing things like e7te, you'd be suprised how much info is on the net.

Mine has an 'auto', with 3.45:1 diff.
It sits on about 2200 rpm @110klms/hr.
So it makes sense that a 4.11:1 dif would sit on 2600rpm @ 110klms/hr.

I agree, with 3.08's the falcons sit on about 1700rpm at 100km/h.
3.23's sit on 2,000rpm at 100km/h
3.45's would sit on about 2,200rpm at 100km/h.
I reckon they would be at least 3.9's if not 4.11's.

Not that it really matters, as long as you're happy with them and the way the car drives, then there's no point calling a spade a shovel....

Let me know the catch code of your EEC veeate,
Then I can inform you of how much TwEECer support there is.
Currently the best supported ones are 1DDC,2DDA,2DCA,3DEA,3DFA.

Yes behind the passenger kick pannel. Just unscrew the mounting bracket and then look on the base of the EEC. There should be a sticker with a 4 digit code like the ones Pete listed. The code is also on a sticker mounted on the passenger side shocker tower in the engine bay although it often wears off over time.
