Re: F150, 1990 first registered (1988 build) 351 (rocker covers have 5 retaining bolts so I assume that its a Cleveland) with 3 speed column auto, which runs on petrol and LPG.
I have just had a (Victoria) pre-roadworthy check done. One of the comments was."pollution control not connected" (EGR value) Is it a requirement in Victoria to have this working to obtain a roadworthy.?? |

Last cleveland was '85.
It'll be a windsor and it should be fuel injected. |

it is fuel injected. Is it being a Windsor a good thing or a bad thing ?? What is the difference between the two. Where is the EGR valve connected to on this engine.

Yep windsors are good engines. The EFI ones are very torquey too. Perfect for an effy.
The EGR comes through the headers and into a valve that plumbs in behind the T-body(see pic). It is operated by a vacuum reg that is controlled by the EEC.

Thanks for the great picture, shows me what I am missing. The pipe (red) is missing. If I reconnect it will anything else need to be changed/modified.
Or can I fit a new pipe that has a plug fitted into it to stop the flow, But it would look like its all there to satisfy Vic Roadworthy requirements. Looks like the connection on the manifold is all rusted in, could be a bit of a problem. |

Follow the rest of this link for the remainder of the EGR controls... http://www.supermotors.net/registry/20487/76033-2 Basically the EEC tells the EVR(EGR Vacuum Regulator) to apply vacuum to the EGR valve where the EVP(EGR Position Sensor) tell the EEC how far it opened. Have you got extractors for it? I've got a good set of Genies to suit this engine/vehicle that you can have for $250 and it even comes with the EGR assembly...

The engine has the standard cast exhaust manifolds on , "AT" the moment. I have thought about fitting extractors , what would be the benefits of doing this ??
I have been told that it would increase fuel consumption,but give better performance. Would the extractors bolt on to the original exhaust system ??. The F150 has only had two owners since new and is in very good condition. The only thing not original is the LPG tank mounted in place of the rear Petrol tank. Has 9" diff (plus spare 9 " centre) as well, not sure if that is standard. My main aim at the moment is to get it roadworthy and on the road. |

Whoever told you that is an idiot.
Extractors increase performance and you get better fuel economy NOT worse. I doubt they would bolt up to the orginal system because the original system would not have two bolt flanges like these have. Very easy job at an exhaust shop though....unless of course they're idiots  The original cast irons manifolds are also prone to cracking especially when LPG is used. |
