Let us know how it goes if you are replacing yours. I need to do mine and the balancer sometime soon (leaky gasket and engine vibration) and am interested to see how it goes. Take pics too... :)

Allready got a cracked bolt in the block from the weak as s**t water pump bolts which i need to retapp :x . Its just being held in there now with cement paste/putty since mid last year. I plugged the whole in the timing cover with a fat short screw and ultra blue and they both been holding strong since, but time to do the change before it lets loose on a long country drive.

Heres some pics of my "get it back on the road in the meantime job", just got to source some new water pump bolts. Thats not a coolent leak, its from the thermostat when i change it last week.

Thanks for that mate. Mine is weeping around the gasket at each side, nothing major I hope. About four years ago I had to replace my inlet manifold lower half as one of the water jackets had corroded out. Since then I've been worried what's happening inside my timing cover!

If it's any help, I priced a cover here for around $250-ish. Genuine are $800-900 from memory.

Ive had the same problem with the cracked bolts for 5yrs now! Gotta love gasket goo! Been told to get studs to avoid it happening again.

Barstool of a job. I had to drill mine out and clean the holes out with a tap. It hurt more because the car was supposed to be on the road after a weekend cam/head swap but those damn bolts held me up big time! Yes, use studs and plenty of anti rust goo along the studs too.

try to stay away from kc castings timing covers, the main seal housing was drilled off centre on three new kc castings timing covers i checked(this would cause undue crank wear and premature seal leakage), i ended up getting a genuine new ford t/cover from race parts for about 250-280 from memory. Was about 2-3 years ago though

Thanks Pete, that is an incredible price ($US) for both pump and cover!
