What is the difference between that and the one in the heater pipe?
Is there one? Mines welded itself inside the manifold, so cant even take it out to look, swap, replace...

Only climate controlled cars get the extra ECT sensor in the heater pipe which has a bosch style connector as opposed to the round connector that the EEC uses. The EEC cannot use the other one so don't chop the plug off. If the shop you go to can't supply the right one go somewhere else...THEY ARE f**k!
The ACT sensor in the #5 runner is different to the ECT sensor in both it's plug and it has an exposed "bulb" in a cage rather than a solid brass end like the ECT because it has to respond quickly to air temp changes instead of slowly like coolant temp. |

Ive seen plenty of those type on ebay...
Like a black ring, with a red knob in it... Simmilar looking to the maf hotwire I guess? You say they only in climate control cars? Or the extra (a 3rd?) One is?

Nope they're nothing like the MAF connector.
I think it's time you posted a photo of what your talking about. There's only two holes in the heater pipes for coolant temp. |

Here's the ECT sensor that the EEC uses...

Thats the coolant temp sensor right? Same one as the 4L uses.
On both my 5.0s they are in the heater/water pipe on the manifold (drivers side front) same ford part number as the 4£ Is this the one (or simmilar) on the other side? (direct into manifold)? http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/ite ... ure-Sensor

I ended up replacing the one in the metal heater pipe on the front of the motor. I ended up with an ed 5.0L sensor that looks like the one in the link xr9ute posted. I still havent got the car to work right a WOT yet though so will recheck timing and get the diagnosic unit back on to the car again.

For the EEC yes. For the climate control No. >Same one as the 4L uses. Yes. >On both my 5.0s they are in the heater/water pipe on the manifold (drivers side front) same ford >part number as the 4£ That's what I said. This is the one you want in that same website.... http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/pro ... emp-Sensor |

Thats what I replaced as thats what the code reader said was faulty but the car will still ping slightly when I go WOT but I still lack power at WOT so will just double check the timing again. then I will be looking at the O2 sensors as I have been told they are the same as the 4L's as well.
All I want is WOT pull. At half throttle its great but it just hates wide open throttle I have read fuel can be an issue so I running either vortex 95 or vortex 98 in it all the time as recommended |

I have both a 94 ef fairmont ghia 5.0 and an ef2 xr8...
Obviously climate control in ghia, not in xr. I cant locate a "3rd sensor" anywhere manifold related. And both cars appears identicle, same sensors, everything... Just wandering about the "climate control" refference is all...
