I have had a code reader on my factory 5L EL and it spat out a code for the temp sensor not being within specified range. Now I did but one but when it arrived the plug on it was different to what my car has and after some research I am still at a loss as it appears there are 2 style of plugs. Looking fuelmiser it something along those lines they some a picture of a sensor that looks the same as an AU item which it more rectangular in shape where as mine looks looks the ones they list for eb/ed 5L which is round.
My car is a 12/1996 build so they say it should be the rectangular one but my wiring appears un-altered. So can I use the sensor they say and have the plug changed? or does the eb/ed 5L sensor operate in the same signal range for the ecu? or is there somewhere else ai can soucre the correct part to suit? |

You need the EB-L type ECT sensor. I'm assuming you mean ECT not ACT?

This is the item I purchased but while the description says it is for my vehicle the plug is different

Where do I find the correct one because every shop and supplier I have spoken to has told me that that one is the correct one and that there is no other listing for an EL v8. The eb/ed v8 sensors visually match mine but do they match electronically?

Ask for a an ECT(I'm still assuming you want an ECT and not an ACT) for a 6 cyl E-series Falcon.
Btw; I had the same thing when I ordered a 5.8 rear main seal and autodumb kept insisting a 5.0 one was correct!?!? |

I've had the same issue, but from Ford. They list 2 different sensors, both with a different plug end. But the one I wanted is obsolete.

I've already got another one but it's none genuine. I didn't end up using it anyway.

Theres 2 on the 5L, not sure if they're the same as, or different, to each other, but about to do both on mine...
Are they both just "temp sensors"?

I have decided to have my wiring changed to suit the plug. Most only lists this plug for 5L's so it should make it easier long term
