Hi guys,
Please forgive my ignorant posts. I'm new dealing with my cars seemingly numerous issues and I'm probably posting to many times. I appreciate your patience (and of course your help) Having cold start issues. Basicly what she does..if she's been sitting overnight.. go to start it, half a dozen or so cranks.. then she starts.. but really lumpy, then she'll die. If I touch the throttle, she'll die. If I start again, one or two cranks, and she starts.. then dies. Do it a third and she starts and off we go. Then when she is warm, she will start after two cranks no worries. I've replaced the MAF (which was tested ok), spark plugs, coil, rotor and cap. I have a replacement TFI module which I havent had a chance to fit yet (where I live is near impossible to get car work done at night in the dark). I am running the timing @ 34 and running BP premium 98. She does seem to have a flat spot around 3k and sometimes the throttle will stick (as in you need to give it a bit of a shove to move the accellerator at place like traffic lights or if you've been crusing at 80 or so). It also pull hard with the maf disconnected. I thought it could be fuel, but then it pulls hard sans the MAF (this is what led me to replace the MAF.. which netted a small gain). So I'm a little confused, if that makes any sense. If anyone has some advice or knows a competent mechanic in the Perth/Rockingham/Shoalwater area.. I'd be really really thankful Kind thanks, Woody |

Sounds like the Temperature Sensor (ECT) - the ECU doesnt know its cold?
.. so would start/run just like an old car with no choke Nigel |

Thats the one (ECT = engine coolant temp)
I think, but cant confirm that its just behind the thermostat cover |

Hey thanks nigel,
I'll grab one of those and have a crack. see how it goes. Seems to me that the first thing to do after buying an E Series, is to go through an replace everyone of the sensors.. they always seem to give people grief. Will let you know how it goes.. Cheers again. Woody |
