Hi guys, Im looking into buying a v8 as my 6 caught on fire and is going to be wrecked know a fair bit about 6's as I wreck alot of them but dont know much at all about the 8's.
I was just wondering if you could put the gt or explorer manifold etc and do all the el v8 mods to an ed xr8 motor, I assume you can? Cheers

you would be better off upgrading the whole top end, because they don't flow very well. get aftermarket heads and aftermarket intake, should give a fair bit more of power

GT40 tubular intake (which what the EB/EL GT had) is quite rare, and although it flows better than the explorer one, there is better aftermarket manifolds available.

i thought the explorer one would be better having nearly ten years of research on the tubular gt ones?

The explorer intake was basically a little more restricted down near the head face than the Cobra/GT40 lower. The Cobra and Explorer upper are a little less restrictive in the cross over tube than the GT40 which was squashed slightly to get through the centre bolts. All of these problems can be overcome by some port work. |
