Can anyone tell me if I can replace the pulley? The bloke at the shop says they sell just the pulley but looking at mine looks like you can't remove the pulley.

ford sells it as a single piece. you can remove the old pulley but you will have to cut it off and replace the mounting stud with a bolt of some sort.

unless you have access to machining equiptment get a new unit from fraud.

I was expecting in the $200 bracket. Just doing overdue maintenance and all those little things I knew about are rapidly adding up to quite a few dollars.

get a small die grinder-dremmelor similar, grind the retaining lip off, remove the washer, the brg is size for size to shaft knock it off, drill and tap a 6-8mm thread in the centre of the shaft, get a new pulley,i think a i6 ildler--------take it to the shop and measure, nuline make cast iron replacments,i have changed all mine, fit it on and use washer and bolt to lock it----double lock.new from ford 120-160 depends on dealer.replced all 4 for less than $70,ask ford to quote all idlers -shock $$$$$$$$$$$$
