Hey all,
Will start by saying its good to be back. Anyways im in the process of buying an el xr8 manual. And the first mod will be the exhaust......But this is where im unsure, I was thinking one of these combinations...... 1.Pacemaker extractors-high flow cats-duel 2.5inch mandrel bent pipes into an X pipe then a straight through muffler on each bank-dropped at the diff. 2.Pacemaker extractors-high flow cats-duel 2.25 inch pipes anto a single 3inch mandrel bent pipe-one straight through muffler and out the back of the car. What are your opinions? I know the exhausts might be a bit on the large side but have a few things up my sleve for the engine so it will be fine. I think the 1st one is the way to go..... Love my cars loud and deep+no restriction.

I'd go the second option dude, id heard and drove both sorts and found one the single system has a better note and when it comes the day to spending money on the motor you'll find a better overall gain wil be made with a single system

I'm running a single 3" Lukey cat back system and the note is delicious. Helped performance nicely too. Will get the pacies one day....

A v8 has to have a twin system ! go twin 2.5inch all the way with 1 straight thru muffler for each side a pair of VN V6 cats.

I have a single 3", and it sounds pretty good, but I'm going to be changing it to a twin 2.25" system before too long, they sound heaps better, although they are more expensive, and only some shops can do a good enough job to get both pipes over the diff without any rattles.

I disagree, 2.5" system all the way along with the Tri-ys for street. Over 2.5" is too big unless you have something major under the bonnet. Herrod even use 2.5" in their 300kw packages. It is not needed, only advantage is more sound but you'll get less power low down.

go the twin system will allow for more grutn as u work the motor which it sounds like you will! BUT dont dump them at the diff bring the pipes over and exit them out the rear! looks good and will sound better
also if you have the pipes dump at the diff you need to fill the rear bumper were the exhuast was!

I'm going the single 3" as it is a good compromise b/w the sigle 2.5" and a twin system (bigger than a single 3").

mine's got a duel 2 1/4 with only one muffler at the diff and it doesn't sound too bad at all, nice & subtle untill I open it up then it roars.

Having the twin system on the FBT, id say go twin, the sound is pretty sweet, not that a single 3" isnt.. but IMHO not as "nice" sounding.
I find she is fairly quiet untill you step on the gass exept at idle, very tough idle sound, doesnt sound like a stock v8 lol! Oh and from what ive heard all the 3" systems are constantly loud, again not a bad thing, but it depends what your after! Don't forget twin usually costs a little more, so im led to believe.

Have to disagree. I've heard other 3" systems as well as mine and they are easy to live with. Mine has a nice idle note, only feel bad when I'm starting it in the garage at 2:30 for a 3 am start!! It must wake the neighbours up... At cruise it has a nice burble, but the stereo definately doesn't have to be turned up, when decelerating it doesn't f@rt, crackle and pop like a Gemini. I hate that sound. But, when you give it WOT, pedestrians will stop, pivot, stare. Sounds awesome under load.
