Hi , I have a problem with my EL XR8 in hot weather, with the air con turned on it stalls when i pull up and then when i turn it back on it idles erratically up and down not over 1000 rpm though. In cold weather she runs beautiful any ideas ?. She has a new air filter , new plugs , clean MAF sensors and i run her on premium all the time.

Take off the idle speed controler on the side of the throttle body, and clean it out.
Make sure the valve inside moves freely, and stick it back on.

He's 15!

XR8beast... good advice from dodgie. Iit might pay you to disconnect the battery for an hour or so and do a full reset while you are at it. Make sure you go through the proper relearn procedure when you power up again.

Guess I would be an excitable little fella if I had a licence and owned an XR at 15years of age too.

Here it is mate...
PCM Relearn Procedure
1. Run engine to normal operating temperature.
2. Allow engine to idle (Don't touch the throttle).
3. Run for 2 minutes in Drive with Air Conditioner ON.
4. Run for 2 minutes in Drive with Air Conditioner OFF.
5. Run for 2 minutes in Neutral with Air Conditioning ON.
6. Run for 2 minutes in Neutral with Air Conditioning OFF.
7. Road test for at least 5 minutes at various speeds.
(Ensure vehicle is operated in each gear position, including Reverse gear).

From the following link...
http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread ... +procedure

Though the car will relearn all this over time, this procedure is quicker.

If this doesn't solve your problems, try checking the TPS voltages, but see how you go first.

Check ignition system, maf, intake air temp sensor, coolant temp sensor....
Make sure idle is set correctly...Disc idle control , adjust idle, then reconnect idle motor...Then check TPS..It should be under 1v at idle and progressivly go up as throttle is opened to 5v...
